Inverness Cricket Official Receives Highland Coaching Award

Ken Ross, a Cricket Official with the North of Scotland Cricket Association was announced as the ‘Technical Official of the Year’ at the 2016 Highland Coaching Awards, held at Inverness Leisure on Saturday 22nd October 2016.  The awards are run by High Life Highland in partnership with sportscotland to recognise the outstanding contribution and significant impact of local coaches.  These coaches enable quality sport and physical activity opportunities to happen in communities across the Highlands.

Ken is qualified to Level 1 and has been officiating as an umpire (and cricket scorer) for the best part of 40 years.

Ken has umpired at most levels in Scottish Cricket with the exception of International games. He was regular on the National League circuit before stepping down a level to umpire in the national feeder leagues. He is still umpiring in North of Scotland Cricket Association (NoSCA) senior (1st XI) reserve (2nd XI) and junior competitions after some 20 years, often against his doctor's advice!

His experience and knowledge of the game is sought after throughout NoSCA.
