Fochabers dent Forres title hopes

Posted on

Reigning champions Fochabers were the victors in Saturday's NoSCA Senior League clash with last year's runners-up Forres at Grant Park, thus denting the home side's title aspirations after the sixth round of matches.

Fochabers scored 221 for the loss of seven wickets thanks largely to an unbeaten 109 from teenager Adi Mehta. In reply, despite 79 from Pal Dhami and 37 from Fraser Merricks, Forres came up 26 runs short of their target with Dan Davidson taking 4 for 38 for the visitors.

At Fort William the home side comprehsively beat struggling Ross County after posting 259 for 7 on the back of a club record opening stand of 130 between Charles Luxton (73) and Keith Reid (48). Ross County were never in the hunt despite useful contributions from Jerry Bishop (33), Harry Tolliday (31) and Chris Blake (31).

Top of the table Buckie maintained their 100% record with a comfortable home win over Highland, and at Cooper Park visitors Nairn squeezed home by just 2 wickets with 20 balls to spare chasing Elgin's 79 all out.
